Number of members

Sometimes i go in chess.com, and i see in them homepage the number of the members....

Just for curiosity :-)
How many members lichess has?
is possible to know this number? there is a link?

For the webmasters;
Why not put the number of members in homepage? (a good position may be over the players online).

:-)
It's complicated by the fact that lichess allows anonymous users.

Also, while total members might be interesting, I think live / active users is a far better metric. People will start accounts on a website and then never use the account.

Maybe the best stat would be: number of people who logged in and played a game in the last month.
to #2 Something like that is always displayed on the Community/Rating stats page.
...and on the Home page of the mobile app, upper left corner: # of players logged in, and # of games in play. Ratio is approximately 4:1.
Some people only play training (like my math prof)
1,325,469. It's meaningless.

wow, good number!! 😀😀

Why meaningless??
I not agree, for me is a good number and is good to know.

I would put this number ( that is automatically updated) on the lichess home page.

is not a useless data.
for example, for me is more usefull to know the number of the members, that the games in play.
I suppose they could get a list of unique IP addresses which accessed the site in past 6 months, couple that with the time played (remove any one with less than a few hours played) and that would give you an approximate number.
Lichess has the number of players and the number of games in play. That's good enough for me.

Lichess also something I don't think any other chess website has, a map of live games which is fantastic. en.lichess.org/network
