Candidates 2014

Round 3 / 15.03.2014 09:00 UTC

Topalov - Aronian - 0-1
Svidler - Kramnik - 1/2
Mamedyarov - Anand - 1/2
Andreikin - Karjakin - 0-1
Topalov Aronian 1/2
Svidler Kramnik 1/2
Mamedyarov Anand (A sharp decisive game. Probably most entertaining game of the day.)
Andreikin Karjakin 0-1
I think that Vishy games can show us a lot of interesting moves of your preperation of WC. Kramink and Topalov have a real chances to win. Aronian i think will lose the key games against Kramink and Topalov. I believe that tomorrow Topalov vs Aronian will be the game of the day and if Aronian wins my prediction will be a total disaster.
Svidler vs. Kramnik 45. ... f5! 46. gxf5 Rf6!! and Kramnik survived. What was it? Just very interesting game or Topalov should sound the alarm because he soon will play against Kramnik? ;) I'm ready to lose the bet on a pack of cigarettes Kazbek if Kramnik and Topalov will shake hands.
Anand continues to surprise in the tournament.
I would never guess that Anand will be leading with 2.5/3 points after three rounds. I wonder if he can keep up with his form.
man indian can do anything i am proud to be an indian
It's funny to see a discussion about the best players of this website in comparison to players at the Candidates. I think Qwaekula explains it well, although it doesn't have to destroy their play, but many top players do think there are better ways to prepare for games. Matetricks has never had a higher rating than 2202 in real life, the lowest rated player at the Candidates is Dmitry Andreikin (2709 rating). If we look at http://senseis.xmp.net/?EloRating the probability of Matetricks winning a serious game with a normal time limit against any of the players at the Candidates is much less than 0.081. I often win against players with about 2200 rating in normal games, but I probably wouldn't even win 2 games out of 100 against a 2700 player.

I liked the second round more than the third, but I'm really looking forward to the fourth round, especially Aronian - Svidler and Anand - Kramnik.
I think Anand is playing better because he has been released of the pressure of being the champion. Now he has nothing to lose and that is a very important psychological advantage.
Two very interesting wins today and the current standings will probably guarantee several interesting games tomorrow.
